Active Communities Hub (ACH)
A shared community space at Centrale
The Active Communities Hub (ACH) is a flexible community space located on the Upper Mall of Centrale Shopping Centre, in the heart of Croydon, CR0 1TX.
The space exists to support local charities, community groups, and social initiatives — providing a welcoming and accessible environment for activities that strengthen wellbeing, connection, and opportunity across the borough.
A shared partnership
Since January 2026, Vineyard English School has been coordinating the day-to-day use of the Active Communities Hub in partnership with Croydon Voluntary Action (CVA).
This partnership brings together:
Croydon Voluntary Action’s experience stewarding community spaces and supporting the borough’s voluntary sector
Vineyard English School’s growing community programme and weekly presence in the Hub
Together, our aim is simple: to steward a space that serves Croydon well — supporting collaboration, creativity, and practical community impact.
What happens at the ACH?
Throughout the week, the space hosts a wide range of activities, including:
Free English classes for asylum seekers and refugees (Vineyard English School)
Health and fitness sessions
Community workshops and training events
Partner organisation activities and outreach
The Hub is designed to be flexible, welcoming, and accessible — a place where people and organisations can connect and grow.
Using or hiring the space
The Active Communities Hub is available for appropriate community use during Centrale opening hours.
The space is offered on a low-cost, not-for-profit basis, with reduced rates for charities, community groups, and initiatives that align with the Hub’s community focus. These contributions help cover the ongoing running and stewardship of the space.
